Rukunegara

BAHAWASANYA NEGARA KITA MALAYSIA mendukung cita-cita hendak :

mencapai perpaduan yang lebih erat di kalangan seluruh masyarakatnya ;
memelihara satu cara hidup demokratik ;
mencipta satu masyarakat adil di mana kemakmuran Negara akan dapat dinikmati bersama secara adil dan saksama ;

KELUHURAN PERLEMBAGAAN
KEDAULATAN UNDANG-UNDANG
KESOPANAN DAN KESUSILAAN

English Version

WHEREAS OUR COUNTRY MALAYSIA nurtures the ambitions of:

achieving a more perfect unity amongst the whole of her society;
preserving a democratic way of life;
creating a just society where the prosperity of the country can be enjoyed together in a fair and equitable manner;
guaranteeing a liberal approach towards her rich and varied cultural traditions; and
building a progressive society that will make use of science and modern technology.

NOW THEREFORE WE, the people of Malaysia, pledge to concentrate the whole of our energy and efforts to achieve these ambitions based on the following principles:

BELIEF IN GOD
LOYALTY TO KING AND COUNTRY
THE SUPREMACY OF THE CONSTITUTION
THE RULE OF LAW
COURTESY AND MORALITY

Every Monday during official assembly of my school, Rukunegara will be recited but a question arises, wheather we, Malaysian truly understand what it means and do we practise the principles that were stated in Rukunegara?

As far as i'm concern, I don't think we truly understand the principles of the Rukunegara as most of us give our pledge in the purpose of just giving it as it is just a normal weekly routine of doing it.

Besides, the government also didn't 100% comply itself towards the pledge. From the 5 ambitions & 5 principles only 3 out of that 10 the government seems to follow which are building a progressive society that will make use of science and modern technology, BELIEF IN GOD & LOYALTY TO KING AND COUNTRY.

How about the other 7? From my point of view i don't think so.

Achieving a more perfect unity amongst the whole of her society
This is totally absurd since we are still practising discriminatory policies based on skin coloured.

Preserving a democratic way of life

I don't think so since most of the things in the country are controlled by ruling party.

Creating a just society where the prosperity of the country can be enjoyed together in a fair and equitable manner
If it is so, why in certain cases the guilty part didn't get what it should get when there is sufficient evidence?

Guaranteeing a liberal approach towards her rich and varied cultural traditions
If that is true, why certain group get special attention and the other didn't.

THE SUPREMACY OF THE CONSTITUTION
If this is practise why there is attorney-general that can institute, conduct or discontinue any proceedings for an offence based on the advise of the Prime Minister.

THE RULE OF LAW
If this is practise, why certain people said something which were seditious in public didn't get any punishment for it?

COURTESY AND MORALITY
Obviously this is not practise as you can see some of our ruling party MP said things which were degrading, immature & disrespect towards other people.
